# Automations

Automations act on pages when something happens. Manage them in **Space settings › Integrations › PageCycle › Automations** (space admins only). Each one reads **When / If / Then** and can be switched off without deleting it.

## Shipped automations (on by default)

| Name | When | If | Then |
|---|---|---|---|
| Edited after approval | the page content is edited | its status is signed off | move to Needs re-review |
| Review date reached | the review date is reached | its status is signed off | move to Review due, and comment mentioning the page owner |

## Build your own

**When**
- The page content is edited. Only a change to the body counts: a status change, a title rename or PageCycle's own writes don't.
- The page moves to a status (or to any status).
- The review date is reached (checked every 5 minutes).

**If** (optional, all must hold)
- Status is one of the chosen statuses.
- Kind of status is one of the chosen kinds.
- Changed by someone in a group. Live-doc status changes don't say who made them, so this never matches those.
- Page has a label.

**Then** (one or more, in order)
- Move to a status. The workflow must have that move from the page's current status; group and comment rules don't apply, because only space admins create automations.
- Set the review date a number of days from now.
- Add a label.
- Post a comment that mentions the page owner.

## Safety rails

- Each automation runs once per occurrence. Duplicate events and overlapping checks never post two comments.
- Automations that trigger each other stop after 3 steps, and History records "Stopped: automations kept triggering each other".
- An automation in one space never acts on pages in another.
- If an action fails (for example Confluence refuses a comment), the page's other changes stand and **Health** lists the failure.
- History names the automation for every change it makes ("automation: Edited after approval").
- An automation never moves a page whose Confluence status was removed, which is how a Confluence approval starts: History shows "didn't move it: status removed", and the automation's other actions (labels, comments) still run.
