# FAQ

### Can PageCycle stop someone from setting a status they aren't allowed to?

No app can veto a Confluence status change. PageCycle checks each change right after it happens and puts back the last allowed status (or flags the page, if the space chose Flag). On pages this takes a few seconds, and at most about 3 minutes if Confluence delays its event. Live docs send no event for status changes, so PageCycle checks them every 5 minutes: a disallowed change on a live doc is reverted within about 6 minutes.

### Does PageCycle work with Confluence approvals?

Yes. On Premium and Enterprise, Confluence can ask named people to approve a page. Starting an approval removes the page's Confluence status, and any later status change ends the approval. So PageCycle:

- flags a removed status and never puts it back, in both "Put it back" and "Flag it" modes;
- checks Confluence before every automatic move (automations, review dates, renamed statuses) and skips a page whose status was removed, saying so in History;
- warns you under the page title, and Rovo asks you, before your own move can end an approval.

PageCycle can't see an approval's result, because Confluence doesn't share it with apps. A status removed in the moment between PageCycle's check and its write can still be overwritten. A page PageCycle never saw with a status (for example one created and sent for approval before PageCycle was turned on in its space) isn't protected until it has one.

### Can agents use PageCycle?

Yes. In Rovo, ask PageCycle in Rovo, or add PageCycle's tools to your own Rovo Studio agent. From Claude, Codex, Cursor or another MCP client, a site or org admin first allows external MCP clients for PageCycle in Atlassian Administration › Connected apps. Every tool checks the person's Confluence permissions before it changes or returns a page, and every move is in History. Changes to a space's settings always show a preview first. See [PageCycle in Rovo and AI tools](https://atlassian.braingrid.ai/docs/pagecycle/rovo).

### Does PageCycle have an API?

Yes. Every PageCycle tool is also an HTTPS route, for your own scripts. A site or org admin first turns on App REST APIs for PageCycle in Atlassian Administration › Connected apps; then a script signs in as a person with an OAuth 2.0 integration and acts with exactly that person's Confluence permissions. Changes to a space's settings preview first through the API too. See the [REST API](https://atlassian.braingrid.ai/docs/pagecycle/rest-api).

### Do reverts notify people?

Yes. A revert is a status change, so Confluence may notify the page's watchers as it does for any status change.

### Whose name shows in the page's history?

Yours, whenever you cause the change: a move with Move to, a move you ask for in Rovo or from an AI tool such as Claude, Codex or Cursor, and, for space admins, the status changes from renaming a status or moving pages out of one. PageCycle makes the change with your own Confluence access, so Confluence checks your permissions and records you. Changes PageCycle makes on its own show as PageCycle: putting a status back and automations. PageCycle's History names the person who moved the page, or the automation that did.

### What happens to pages I can't edit when I change the workflow?

They are left as they are. When you turn PageCycle on, rename a status or move pages out of a status, PageCycle checks your own edit permission on each page first. A page you can't edit keeps its Confluence status, and PageCycle names it in the result, so you can ask someone who can edit it. A page you can't view is never named. When you turn PageCycle on, such pages aren't counted either; PageCycle still records their status, without changing them, so it can keep track of them.

### Why does History say "Unknown (live doc)"?

Confluence doesn't say who changed a live doc's status, so PageCycle can't check group rules for it. A move that needs a group is reverted on live docs when made from the status menu; use Move to instead, which knows who you are.

### Does PageCycle work on restricted pages?

Partly. Confluence sends apps no events for pages with view restrictions, so a status someone sets from the status menu on a restricted page is not checked or recorded. Moves made through Move to or Rovo work normally when the PageCycle app can view the page.

### Where is my data?

In your Confluence site. The workflow, page statuses and history live in Forge SQL, Atlassian-hosted storage that follows your site's data residency. Each page's current status is also Confluence's own status plus a PageCycle content property used for search and the label under the page title. PageCycle runs on Atlassian and calls nothing outside it. An agent or script gets answers only for a person on your site who signs in, and only what that person may see. See the [privacy policy](https://atlassian.braingrid.ai/privacy).

### What does History keep, and for how long?

One entry per status change: when it happened, the page, the status before and after, who changed it (their Atlassian account), their comment, and the reason (a person's move, an automation, a review date, or a change PageCycle put back). Page content and titles are never stored; to notice edits, PageCycle keeps only a fingerprint (hash) of each page's body. A space admin picks the period in PageCycle settings › Settings: 30 days, 90 days, 1 year or 3 years (the default). Older entries are permanently deleted once a week, in that space only, and page statuses stay as they are. The CSV download on the board's History tab keeps a copy before a shorter period takes effect. When Atlassian reports an account closed, its id is replaced with "Former user".

### What happens if I uninstall?

PageCycle's stored workflows and history are deleted by Atlassian after uninstall (Forge storage is recoverable on request for about 3 weeks, then removed). Page statuses stay on your pages, because they are Confluence's own statuses. Comments and labels automations added stay too.

### What if our license lapses?

Statuses, the board and History stay readable and status changes keep being recorded. Moves, reverts, automations and CSV downloads pause until a site admin renews in Manage apps.

### How much does it cost?

PageCycle is billed by Atlassian with your other apps. The Atlassian Marketplace listing shows the price for your site's size.

### Which Confluence plans?

All Cloud plans, including Standard.
