AI checks: how many words a month
Each site gets a number of words PageCheck can check each calendar month (UTC), called its AI checks. They grow with the number of people who use Confluence pages in the spaces PageCheck runs in.
| Standard | Advanced | |
|---|---|---|
| AI checks per active user, per month | 2,000 words | 5,000 words |
| Site minimum, per month | 10,000 words | 25,000 words |
| Most a site gets, per month | 2,000,000 words | 5,000,000 words |
| 30-day evaluation | 25,000 words a month | 25,000 words a month |
A typical page is 500 to 1,500 words, so Standard covers a few checked pages per person each month and Advanced several more. The monthly maximum is reached at 1,000 active users on either edition.
Active users
An active user is a person who, this month, opened a page in a space PageCheck runs in (or opened PageCheck's settings as an admin). PageCheck counts them itself, because Atlassian's license doesn't say how many users a site pays for. It counts without keeping a list of who they are: see the privacy policy.
- A month's count is this month's or last month's, whichever is higher, so your AI checks don't drop on the 1st while people come back.
- As new people arrive during the month, the month's AI checks rise within the hour. They never go down during a month.
What uses AI checks
- A check uses the words PageCheck reads: the page's prose. Words are counted per word in every language; text with no word breaks counts one word per 8 characters.
- Opening a page that's already checked, or reopening the authorship view, uses nothing.
- An edit that doesn't change the text reuses the earlier result and uses nothing.
- When PageCheck's model is updated, checking a page again uses nothing if its text hasn't changed.
- A check that fails, or a page with too little text, uses nothing.
Admins see the month's use in PageCheck's settings and in the authorship view: words checked, the month's AI checks and when they reset.
When the month's AI checks run out
Pages already checked keep their results. New versions show Check AI, and the authorship view says when the AI checks reset. More active users during the month raise the AI checks and let pages through. Admins on Standard can move to Advanced in Manage apps for more words per person.
A single page longer than a whole month of AI checks says so in the authorship view.
