Getting started
PageCheck adds a label under the title of Confluence pages that shows how the page was written: AI, Mixed or Human. Click the label to see which passages were written by AI and which by a person.
PageCheck runs entirely inside Atlassian on its own model: page text never leaves Atlassian, and the app calls no outside service. How the AI check works has the details.
PageCheck informs and takes no position on AI use. A result describes the text. It does not say who wrote the page or whether AI was allowed.
1. Choose the spaces (Confluence admins)
PageCheck checks nothing until an admin chooses spaces.
- Open Confluence administration and choose PageCheck under Apps.
- Under Spaces to check, add the spaces PageCheck should run in.
- Leave Check pages automatically when someone opens them on to check each edit when it's published and each new page when someone first opens it. Turn it off to let readers choose when to check a page.
- Save.
The label then appears on pages in the chosen spaces. Spaces you don't choose show no label at all.
2. Read the label
| Label | Meaning |
|---|---|
| AI (purple) | Most of the page was written by AI |
| Mixed (split) | Part of the page was written by AI and the rest by a person |
| Human (green) | No passage of the page was written by AI |
| Checking AI | PageCheck is checking this version. It usually takes under a minute |
| Check AI | No current AI check for this version. Click to see why, and to check it |
The label always describes the page's current version. When someone publishes an edit, the label goes back to Check AI (or Checking AI with automatic checks on) until the new version is checked.
3. Open the authorship view
Click the label. The authorship view shows:
- the AI check's result and how much of the page was written by AI, for example "32% of this page was written by AI.",
- the page's passages as cards under its own headings,
- tabs to show All passages, only AI-written ones or only Human-written ones.
Everyone who can view a page can open its authorship view and ask for a check. PageCheck checks each person's view permission every time; it never shows a result for a page someone can't see.
